Dmitry Alferenko Appointed Rector of Kuzbass Institute

Dmitry Alferenko, newly appointed rector of the Kuzbass Institute, has announced plans to develop a regional strategy for Russia's education development until 2036.

It has become known who will take the position of rector of the Kuzbass Regional Institute for the Development of Professional Education named after Tuleyev. It will be Dmitry Alferenko — a graduate of the flagship program for developing the managerial reserve of the Russian education system.

— This is the fifteenth appointment as a result of the program«s work. The first cohort of the program was implemented by the »Mashuk« Knowledge Center in collaboration with the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Higher School of Public Administration of the Presidential Academy, — reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Education.

The goal of the program is to train qualified personnel with the skills necessary for effective management of the education system at the federal and regional levels.

In his new position, Alferenko will provide scientific, methodological, and organizational support for national and federal projects in the field of professional education. His plans include developing the Strategy for the Development of Education in Russia until 2036 at the regional level.

In turn, Russian Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted that Kuzbass is one of the country«s leaders in training skilled workers.

— I am confident that the appointment of a graduate of our personnel reserve program will contribute to the further development of this system. It is important that the Institute for the Development of Professional Education has received a new rector from among modern managers who have undergone serious training and proven their effectiveness, — commented the minister.

The second cohort of the program started on 20 October 2025. It is conducted by the «Mashuk» Knowledge Center jointly with the Russian Ministry of Education with the support of the State University of Education. The participants of the intake were 70 people from 38 regions. Among them are deputy ministers, rectors of institutes for advanced training, as well as directors of schools, lyceums, institutions of secondary vocational education, and technoparks.
