Vegetables Rose, Fruits Fell: Irkutskstat on December Prices

Prices in the Irkutsk region increased by 0.3% in December 2025, according to Irkutskstat (the Irkutsk Regional Statistics Service). Overall for the year, price growth was 8.5%. Here«s what rose and fell the most at the end of 2025.
According to statisticians, prices for fresh vegetables rose by 3.3% in December. Most notably for cabbage (10.2%) and cucumbers (8.2%). By the way, Irkutsk blogger Natalya Kray noticed the price increase and even recorded a video about it.
At the same time, over the month, oranges, pears, frozen berries, peppers, bananas, and beets became cheaper by 2–4%.
Prices also rose for cut frozen fish, frankfurters and sausages (by 3%), chicken, beef liver, salted fish, dumplings, eggs, cottage cheese, rye bread, and gingerbread (by 2%).
Prices fell by 2–4% for chilled fish, rice, sugar, canned peas, and sour cream.
Also in December, shoes and accessories made from natural leather became more expensive. Prices for men«s boots increased by 6%, men»s belts by 3.6%, women«s shoes by 3%, and sandals by 2.5%.
Stores also raised prices for USB flash drives (by 4.6%), all-in-one PCs, mixers, and blenders (by 3%), as well as smartphones (by 2%).
Seasonal footwear became cheaper in December: women«s winter boots (by 7%) and men»s winter boots (by 3%).
The cost of package tours to Turkey, Egypt, Central Asian countries, the UAE, and Russia«s Black Sea coast decreased by 9–20%.
At the same time, prices for hotel and hostel rooms rose sharply by 9%. Insurance services became more expensive by 4.7%, and apartment rentals by 3.6%.
