Tyumen Residents on Incomes of 100,000 to 300,000 Rubles a Month

In Russia, an income of 100,000 rubles (about $1,000) is often considered high, but it may not be enough to support a family. Several Tyumen residents with monthly incomes in the hundreds of thousands of rubles have described their financial situations.
Doctor Evgeny earns 118,000 rubles (about $1,200) per month. «I spend about 50,000 a month, I don»t splurge much. But I can«t afford expensive electronics or a spa treatment. Life is not bad, but not as good as I»d like,« he says.
Lawyer Lilia earns 175,000 rubles (about $1,800), of which she spends about 100,000 and saves the rest. «I don»t deny myself anything. It«s quite comfortable, but it could be more,» the young woman shares.
The highest income among those interviewed belongs to lead specialist Andrey — 300,000 rubles (about $3,000) with expenses of about 100,000. «I can afford everything I want: a car, an apartment, vacations. I am comfortable with my income. It»s a decent salary for my work,« he explains.
Electrician Sergey works on a shift basis and earns 300,000 rubles (about $3,000), spending half of that amount. «I invest, and I don»t really skimp on anything. Reasonable, necessary expenses. Given today«s inflation, I feel that life is getting more expensive, but my salary remains unchanged,» he notes.
Marketing department head Diana earns 150,000 rubles (about $1,500) with monthly expenses of 100,000–120,000. «I earn 150,000 a month, I spend 100,000–120,000. I think my salary is quite decent for my age,» says the Tyumen resident.
Not everyone manages to achieve the desired income in one job. At 49, HOA chairperson Elena has to work four jobs to earn 98,000 rubles (about $980). «No vacations, I save on health, dental treatment, this year I can»t buy winter shoes. Of course, the salary level doesn«t match the workload and my contribution,» she believes.
Earlier, Tyumen resident Marina, a documentation support specialist, who is married and raising a five-year-old daughter, also spoke about how her family budget works.
