Ryazan police seize counterfeit Abibas goods worth 1.4 million rubles

In Ryazan, police checked a clothing store on Bolshaya Street and seized counterfeit goods worth 1.4 million rubles (approximately $14,000 at current rates), according to the regional Interior Ministry department.
Police suspected that the inexpensive clothing, shoes, and bags with logos of popular brands showed clear signs of counterfeiting and trademark infringement. The sellers could not provide officers with quality certificates or agreements with the trademark holders.
As a result, police confiscated 591 items with a total value of 1,422,000 rubles (about $14,200 at current rates). An examination confirmed that the seized samples had signs of not matching the originals.
A criminal case has been opened against the 47-year-old owner of the retail outlet, which could result in a fine of 100,000 to 300,000 rubles (approximately $1,000-$3,000 at current rates) or up to two years in prison.
