An autonomous nonprofit organization (ANO) will be established in the Nizhny Novgorod Region to develop Shakhunya. The initiative to create a project office was launched by the regional government and the agribusiness holding «Ruslakto». Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov provided details about the initiative on his Telegram channel.

The «Shakhunya City Development Agency» ANO will launch this year under the management of the region, municipality, and investor. Its main goal will be to attract money to Shakhunya for the city«s development. The project will be overseen by the regional Ministry of Economic Development, with »Ruslakto« as a partner.

The project will be a pilot, and if it proves effective, a similar methodology will be used to develop other northern cities in the region.

«A plan of measures has been formed, during the implementation of which it is planned to attract funding (including federal funds) for social infrastructure facilities, investment projects, and road and utilities, with a preliminary amount of over 8 billion rubles (approximately $80 million at current rates),» wrote Polyakov.

Ultimately, attracting funds will help develop the city in an integrated manner, ensuring the creation of new jobs and improving the quality of life for local residents.

We previously reported on other large-scale projects planned for the region in a previous article.
