Despite the ongoing deep coal crisis in the region, major industrial plants have no plans to cease operations or halt the sale of products worth billions of rubles. On Tuesday, January 27, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Kuzbass disclosed the earnings of regional enterprises for 2025.
According to the report by Alexey Grishin, the mining and metallurgy sector earned 299.2 billion rubles (approximately $3.2 billion at current rates) over the year, with investments of around 14.64 billion rubles. A key development was the reconstruction of the coke battery at the EVRAZ plant in Novokuznetsk, which created 60 jobs and boosted coke gas processing capacity.
In the coke and petroleum products sector, shipments totaled 160.9 billion rubles (about $1.7 billion), with investments of 11 billion rubles (around $118 million). The construction of the third phase of the oil refinery in Yaya was a notable project.
The chemical industry generated 99.6 billion rubles (approximately $1.1 billion), with investments of nearly 6 billion rubles ($65 million). Mechanical engineering brought in a similar amount—99.7 billion rubles ($1.1 billion)—with initial capital of about 1.8 billion rubles ($19 million). Plans in this sector include developing the BELAZ Technical Support Center and a dealer center for KAMAZ trucks.
