Central Bank reports lowest inflation since 2020 in Krasnodar Krai

In Krasnodar Krai, inflation for 2025 was 5.5%. This was reported by the press service of the Southern Directorate of the Bank of Russia. According to analysts, such low values have not been seen since 2020 (when annual inflation in the region was 3.2%). For comparison, in 2024, inflation was 9.5%.

The Central Bank stated that in the last seven months, prices for sugar have been falling in the region, and butter has also become cheaper. Moreover, gasoline prices have normalized due to «the restoration of petroleum product production.» However, cucumbers and eggs became more expensive before the New Year. Vegetables became pricier due to increased costs for heating greenhouses, and eggs due to high demand.

«In December compared to November, prices increased by 0.2%. The growth rate was lower than in November and October. Thanks to the strengthening of the ruble, smartphones became cheaper. For the same reason, prices for foreign tours also decreased. Most noticeably, tours to Transcaucasian countries and Egypt became cheaper,» said representatives of the Southern Directorate of the Bank of Russia.

According to the Central Bank, in neighboring Rostov Oblast, annual inflation was 5.92%, in Adygea — 6.81%, in Volgograd Oblast — 5.20%. The highest level is in Kamchatka — 9.48%, and in Moscow — 3.68%. The average across Russia is 5.59%.

Rosstat (the Federal State Statistics Service) calculates inflation using the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which shows how much a basket of more than 700 goods and services (food, clothing, medicine, transport, etc.) has increased in price over a certain period and is compared with the CPI from the previous year or month.
