Billions of Rubles Allocated for Shakhunya Revitalization

Authorities of the Nizhny Novgorod Region and investors plan to invest over 8 billion rubles (approximately $89 million at current rates) in the comprehensive development of Shakhunya.

The government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region intends to attract investors to finance development projects in Shakhunya.

An autonomous non-profit association, «Agency for the Development of Shakhunya City,» will be established in the region. The initiative comes from the regional government and the agriholding «Ruslakto,» as reported by Deputy Governor Yegor Polyakov.

The agency will begin operations this year. Management will be carried out by the region, municipality, and investors. The main task is to attract capital investments into various spheres of urban infrastructure.

The project will be supervised by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Nizhny Novgorod Region, with the company «Ruslakto» acting as a partner.

This is a pilot project. If successful, a similar approach will be applied to the development of other cities in the north of the region.

Yegor Polyakov stated:

A plan of measures has been formed, during the implementation of which it is planned to attract funding (including federal) for social infrastructure facilities, investment projects, and road and utility services for a preliminary amount of over 8 billion rubles (approximately $89 million at current rates).

The attracted funds will allow for the comprehensive modernization of the city, creation of new jobs, and improvement of the quality of life for Shakhunya residents.
