Samara announces 12-hour air quality alert for two key enterprises

In Samara Oblast, a first-degree hazardous meteorological conditions (HMC) regime has been declared again. The Privolzhsky Hydrometeorological Center warned about this.
«From 20:00 on January 27 to 8:00 on January 21, emission sources in Samara are expected to experience meteorological conditions unfavorable for the dispersion of harmful impurities in the atmospheric air. A first-degree HMC regime is declared,» the forecasters reported.
The warning to reduce emissions was passed to JSC «KNPP» and LLC «SKS».
«Pollution of the ground-level air, caused by emissions from industrial enterprises, thermal power plants, transport, and other facilities, largely depends on meteorological conditions. If calm, weak wind, fog, or inversion occurs, harmful substances accumulate in the ground layer of the atmosphere,» explained specialists from the Privolzhsky Hydrometeorological Center.
During the first-degree HMC regime, it is not advisable to:
take long walks;
exercise outdoors;
ventilate for extended periods;
travel out of town;
ignore chronic illnesses.
Specialists advise rinsing the nose, taking a shower, and doing wet cleaning at home.
The last time a first-degree HMC regime was declared was from 19:00 on January 23 to 12:00 on January 26. Then the warning was passed to dozens of enterprises.
