Yaroslavl Youth Theater (TYuZ) announced on January 23 the cancellation of all performances scheduled for January 2026.

Ticket buyers can return their tickets at the same box offices or points where the purchase was made.

The following five performances have been cancelled:

  • «The Government Inspector» (12+) — January 23–25;
  • «Leningrad Symphony» (12+) — January 28;
  • «Carlson is Wanted» (6+) — January 29;
  • «Prima Donnas» (16+) — January 30;
  • «The Sea Wolf» (6+) — January 31.

Recall that the theater«s operations were suspended by a decision of the Kirovsky District Court of Yaroslavl on December 23, 2025. This was due to violations of fire safety regulations. It was on December 23 that the first governor»s New Year«s party was scheduled, which was to mark the opening of TYuZ after a lengthy reconstruction.

According to information, a month after the court decision, work is still ongoing in the theater to address the identified shortcomings. The Yaroslavl Regional Court noted that no new protocols have been received regarding TYuZ, and the previously imposed administrative penalty is not being extended.

Previously, the theater had already cancelled performances scheduled for December 2025. These productions were not moved to other stages and were to be shown after operations resume. The TYuZ team apologized to the audience for the inconvenience caused.

In December 2025, the theater stated: «We share your disappointment. Our entire team—from technical services to artists—has been working around the clock to meet the deadline. Now, all our efforts are focused on overcoming the obstacles as quickly as possible and finally, honestly and safely, opening for you.»

The TYuZ building at 23 Svoboda Street was closed for major renovation in 2022. The opening of the renovated theater was initially planned for 2024, but it had to be postponed due to the need for additional work. During the reconstruction period, actors from TYuZ and the puppet theater performed at other venues in the city.

The total amount spent on the restoration was 1 billion 75 million 300 thousand rubles (approximately $11.3 million at current rates).
