Performances canceled at Yaroslavl Youth Theater through January

The Yaroslavl Regional Court has issued comments regarding the theater«s ongoing closure and performance cancellations.
The Yaroslavl Youth Theater has canceled performances scheduled for January 2026. The theater administration announced this on its official website on January 23.
Tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase. A total of five productions have been canceled:
«The Government Inspector» (12+) — January 23–25;
«Leningrad Symphony» (12+) — January 28;
«Carlson is Wanted» (6+) — January 29;
«Primadonnas» (16+) — January 30;
«The Sea Wolf» (6+) — January 31.
Recall that on December 23, 2025, the Kirov District Court in Yaroslavl suspended the operation of the Yaroslavl Youth Theater due to violations of fire safety rules. On that day, the first governor«s New Year»s party (a holiday event) was planned, with which the theater was supposed to open after a long renovation.
A month after the court«s decision, work on eliminating the violations continues at the theater, according to a source from 76.RU. The Yaroslavl Regional Court also added that no new protocols regarding the theater»s operation have been received, and the previously assigned administrative penalty is not being extended.
This is not the first cancellation of planned performances. A similar decision was made for the December schedule. They were not moved to other venues. The shows were supposed to take place after the opening. Theater staff apologized for the inconvenience caused.
«We share your disappointment. Our entire team—from technical services to artists—worked around the clock to meet the deadline. Now all our efforts are focused on eliminating the obstacles as quickly as possible and finally, honestly and safely, opening for you,» the theater commented in December 2025.
Recall that the Yaroslavl Youth Theater at 23 Svoboda Street was closed for renovation in 2022. It was planned that the updated theater would open in 2024. However, due to the need for additional work, the theater«s opening was postponed. While the building was under renovation, actors from the Youth Theater and the Puppet Theater performed on other stages.
By the way, 1 billion 75 million 300 thousand rubles (approximately $14.3 million at current rates) were spent on the restoration. For more details on the work carried out, we reported in this article.
