The art association «Give Us a Wall» has announced the cessation of its studio«s activities, located in Tyumen at 22 Volodarsky Street. Shortly before closing, a final sale of works was held there.
One of the city«s most prominent creative collectives includes Aleksandra Melnikova, Vasily Kirilov, Aleksandr Kuzmin, and Savely Melchakov. The artists work at the intersection of street art, public art, painting, and installation, often addressing urban context and local identity.
Among their well-known projects is the large-scale mural «Warm, Good,» created in 2023 for the «Morphology of Streets» festival. The space on Volodarsky was used for one-day exhibitions by local authors and the group«s own events.
As told by one of the association«s founders, Aleksandra Melnikova, the lease agreement had to be terminated at the landlord»s initiative. «We were asked to vacate by the landlord — they need the space for a warehouse, so the lease agreement was terminated. There is no new place yet, we»ll work without a space for some time, save up and look for something new. I don«t know yet how long it will take,» she explained.
After closing, some of the works will be temporarily placed in the artists« home studios, the space »ZolotoBoloto,« and in a warehouse. The exact timing and location for the resumption of »Give Us a Wall«s» activities are not yet determined.
Earlier in Tyumen, a store of the largest board game network «Moskigra» also ceased operations. There, an urgent sale of remaining goods is underway, with the last day of operation set for January 26.
