Famous Art Space and Workshop Closes in Tyumen

In Tyumen, the art group «Give Us a Wall» announced the closure of its workshop at 22 Volodarskogo Street. A final sale of the artists« works was held there the day before. The reason is the sudden need to vacate the premises. As told to 72.RU by one of the group»s founders, Alexandra Melnikova, the lease had to be terminated at the landlord«s initiative.

The art group «Give Us a Wall» is one of the most prominent associations of young artists in Tyumen. It includes Alexandra Melnikova, Vasily Kirilov, Alexander Kuzmin, and Saveliy Melchakov. The artists work at the intersection of street art, public art, painting, and installation, often addressing urban context and local identity.

One of their most famous works is the large-scale mural «Warm, Good», created in 2023 for the «Morphology of Streets» festival. The workshop on Volodarskogo hosted one-day exhibitions by local authors and the group«s own projects.

«The tenant asked us to move out — they need the space for a warehouse, so the lease was terminated. We don»t have a new place yet, we«ll work without a space for some time, save up, and look for something new. I don»t know yet how long it will take,« explained the artist.

After the closure, part of the works will be temporarily sent to the artists« home studios, to the space »ZolotoBoloto« and to storage. It is still unknown when and where »Give Us a Wall« will open again.

Earlier, it became known about the closure of a store of the largest board game chain «Mosigra». Currently, they are urgently selling off remaining goods. On the official page of the Tyumen store, it says that their last day of operation is January 26.
