Woman from Krasnodar sells fake caviar as delicacy in Stavropol

The business plan of a resident from a neighboring region failed spectacularly. She decided to make money by selling a delicacy, but there was one catch—the caviar was fake. Nevertheless, the woman went to Stavropol to sell it to business center employees.
A Stavropol resident contacted the police, claiming to be a victim of fraud. She said that she had bought red caviar the day before, but upon tasting it, realized it was imitation. Law enforcement intervened and identified the seller.
It turned out that a 45-year-old resident of Tbilisskaya stanitsa in Krasnodar Krai purchased imitation caviar from a chain store, repackaged it in containers, and traveled to Stavropol. There, she sold the product to business center staff, passing it off as a delicacy. The buyers were unaware that the product was not genuine. At least five people fell for this scam.
Law enforcement opened a criminal case. The exact charge is not specified, but under Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code, «Fraud,» it could result in 2 to 10 years in prison.
