Sobchak Calls Interview with Skopinsky Maniac Her Best Work

Journalist Ksenia Sobchak called the interview with the Skopinsky maniac, Viktor Mokhov, her best work on her YouTube channel. She stated this at the beginning of a video in which she converses with Yevgenia Hasis.

Yevgenia Hasis is an accomplice in the murder of lawyer Stanislav Markelov and journalist Anastasia Baburova in 2009. Together with her boyfriend, she was part of a banned extremist organization.

According to Sobchak, interviews with terrorists and maniacs are practiced worldwide. In their work, journalists try to understand the motives, ideas, and internal conflicts of their subjects.

«And yes, I still consider the interview with the Skopinsky maniac one of my best works on this channel. Because such episodes reveal the very essence of the banality of evil, and such characters can be among each of you. Riding on the same bus with you or going to the same supermarket,» Sobchak stated.

Ksenia Sobchak«s interview with Viktor Mokhov was released in March 2021. Currently, the video has many views—over 11 million. Initially, this work caused a resonance: subscribers did not understand why the Skopinsky maniac was released from prison and gaining popularity through the interview.

Viktor Mokhov held two underage girls captive in the basement of a house from 2000 to 2004. He raped them but did not kill them. The schoolgirls were found, and now they are adults, each living their own life, while the criminal was released from a colony in the Saratov region in March 2021.
