Schoolgirls accused of murder to remain in custody until March

The arrest of two schoolgirls accused of murdering a 40-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy has been extended until March 3, according to the press service of the Investigative Committee for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as reported to a 14.RU correspondent.

One of them, a 16-year-old girl, is the daughter and sister of the victims. The tragedy occurred in the family of a well-known politician and participant in the special military operation in the republic, who died in a hospital in 2023.

The bodies of the woman and the boy were found on 3 October in a house in the 202nd microdistrict. As reported by the NTV television channel, the girl had planned the attack on her mother in advance and involved her friend. During interrogation, she stated she did not want to kill her brother, but the boy came home from school early, and they decided to get rid of the witness. A fatal coincidence led to the child«s agonizing death: her friend held him while his sister delivered the blows.
