Man found guilty of raping and murdering woman in Kuzbass cemetery 20 years ago

A local court has convicted a man for a 2006 crime where he raped and killed a woman in a Belovo cemetery. The perpetrator, who had prior convictions, never admitted guilt.

The Belovo City Court found a local resident guilty of several crimes committed 20 years ago. The man raped and killed a 54-year-old woman, the regional prosecutor«s office reported on Friday, January 30.

The crime occurred in 2006 at the city cemetery in Belovo. The man raped the 54-year-old local woman and then killed her to prevent her from reporting the incident.

«He inflicted at least five blows with his fists and feet and at least 11 stab wounds to various parts of the victim»s body. She died on the spot from her injuries,« the department reported.

At the time of the murder, the rapist was about 22 years old. Over the years, he had been convicted of crimes on several occasions.

The court found the Belovo resident guilty and sentenced him to 16.5 years in a strict-regime penal colony. Notably, the man never admitted his guilt.
