In Saratov, former Volsky District head Andrei Tatarinov was detained. This was officially reported on January 20 by the press service of the regional investigative committee. It is noted that Tatarinov was summoned for questioning to the regional investigative committee and detained under Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The materials of the criminal case will be sent to court to select a measure of restraint for the former official.

Andrei Tatarinov headed the closed administrative-territorial formation (ZATO) of Shikhany from 2016 to 2021, and the Volsky District from 2021 to 2025. He resigned almost simultaneously with former vice-governor Igor Pivovarov, whose protege he was considered. In May 2025, it became known that the investigative committee opened a case against Tatarinov due to his activities as head of Shikhany.

The department believes that in 2020, the official gave consent to commercial and municipal structures for illegal extraction of resources on the territory of the municipality he headed. This activity led to environmental damage. Because of it, in the ZATO, it is necessary to restore the fertile soil layer and plantings.

According to a source in law enforcement, it was about logging in Shikhany. Based on materials from the Federal Security Service (FSB), a case was opened against the former official under point «v» of part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on abuse of official powers causing grave consequences. Under this article, Tatarinov faces from three to ten years of imprisonment.
