A therapist from the regional clinical hospital received a two-year suspended sentence for attempting to bribe a gymnasium director to «correct» his son«s failing grade on the OGE in social studies.
On June 2, 2025, exam results appeared in personal accounts. That same evening, the father of the ninth-grader, Yevgeny P., called the director — asking how to «correct the situation» and how he could «help the school». The conversation happened at an unfortunate time: the director was holding a meeting with her deputy and a life safety teacher, both heard everything and later gave testimony. The director — who has been running the gymnasium for over 20 years — explained: the school has no connection to the OGE checking, papers are reviewed by independent experts, and the only option is a retake.
But Yevgeny did not calm down. At 05:31 the next morning, he transferred 50,000 rubles (approximately $556 at current rates) to the director«s personal card via a banking app. In a messenger, he wrote: »Good morning. For the development of the school,« and an hour and a half later clarified: »From Yevgeny Gennadyevich P. for Sergei P.«
The phrasing «for the development of the school» was apparently an attempt to disguise the bribe as charity. In the gymnasium, as follows from the case materials, there is indeed a development fund where parents can transfer money. But it has a separate account, and the director «has no relation to the fund,» as witnesses explained.
The director, seeing the transfer, immediately clicked «Transfer back» and on the same day filed a report with the police.
The man was convicted under Part 3 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code — giving a bribe on a significant scale. The court took into account that he had no prior convictions, works, and is raising a child — and imposed a two-year suspended sentence. The son, by the way, retook the exam and received his certificate. As should have been from the very beginning.
