The court established that the Renault truck, approaching an unregulated crossing on Ural Street, did not reduce speed, did not stop before the «Stop» sign, did not ensure the absence of a train, and drove onto the tracks.

A Russian Railways (RZhD) employee—a train conductor—was on the front coupler of the locomotive at the moment of impact. As a result of the crash, the man suffered rib fractures and crushed tissues and died at the scene before medical help arrived. A forensic medical examination confirmed that death resulted from combined mechanical trauma.

The Berezovsky City Court found the driver guilty under the article on traffic violations resulting in the negligent death of a person. As punishment, the court sentenced him to two years of compulsory labor with 10% of his earnings withheld for the state. The man was also deprived of the right to drive vehicles for two years.
