Coach Sushko depressed in jail over pedophilia charge
Alexey Sushko insists on his innocence
Fitness coach Alexey Sushko, who is being tried for exposing himself to a schoolgirl in an Anapa stairwell, is being held in a common cell in a pre-trial detention center. According to his lawyer, there are no complaints from other inmates, but he has temporarily stopped training.
“He is not training for now, his mood is depressed. You can understand him — he faces a long prison term for a crime he did not commit. He is being held in a common cell, but as far as I know, there are no conflicts with other inmates. The people there are understanding. Alexey is supported by his relatives, wife, and son. Although they are divorced, they maintained friendly relations,” Alexey’s lawyer told E1.RU.
Earlier we reported the details of Alexey’s new case. Two schoolgirls from the Far East were vacationing in Anapa with their relatives. Soon, frightening information appeared in local chats.
“A girl was waiting for her friend to go for a walk (the children are 11–12 years old, they walk near the house). A man stood for some time, watching one of the girls near the stairwell. When she noticed, she ran in and hid under the stairs, and the man rushed in after her. The friend came out of the apartment and started descending. She encountered him on the stairs, greeted him, and passed by. She heard a rustling sound, turned around and saw the scene of this man having already taken off his underwear and standing naked. The girls managed to escape,” was written in local chats.
This man turned out to be Alexey Sushko. The moment when he enters the stairwell after the girls, and then they run out in terror, was caught on video.

In spring 2018, Alexey Sushko was convicted of masturbating in front of a girl — initially for eight years. The case caused the widest public resonance, since on the presented surveillance camera footage nothing of the sort is visible, and all witnesses refuted the child’s words. The girl herself skipped classes that day, and she told about the coach harassing her when she started being scolded for skipping. This also raised doubts about her version.
Later, the lawyer managed to achieve a mitigation of the sentence to six years in a colony. In August 2023, the remaining term was replaced with forced labor.
