Acquitted murder suspect returns to pre-trial detention after appeal

Artem Bedrii from Perm, accused of killing his sister Natalia, has been sent back to pre-trial detention. In November 2025, a jury delivered a not guilty verdict, but the prosecution appealed this decision.

In December 2023, search groups announced the disappearance of a 48-year-old Perm resident Natalia Bedrii, who had a dragon tattoo on her head. Volunteers, relatives, and police searched for her for four months and found her dead. The woman«s body was lying in the cellar of her brother Artem Bedrii»s house in the Motovilikha District. He was charged with murdering his sister.
According to the investigation, the murder was caused by a family conflict: during a feast at Artem«s house, a quarrel occurred between him and Natalia. Artem, with the help of his 23-year-old son, strangled his sister, and they dragged the body to the cellar. For almost four months of the search, Artem communicated with everyone on behalf of his sister using her phone.
During the investigation and trial, Artem was sent to pre-trial detention. His son underwent a psychological-psychiatric examination and was found to have a mental disorder. Artem«s ex-wife Marina told 59.RU that during the conflict, Artem»s eldest son called «112» three times and tried to say that his father and aunt were quarreling severely and even fighting. But due to the young man«s mental peculiarities, the dispatcher did not understand him.
Artem Bedrii demanded that a jury be present at the trial. According to his ex-wife Marina, they did not take the testimony of the mentally ill son as truth, and Artem himself did not admit guilt. The jury acquitted Artem, and he was released.
Recently it became known that Artem Bedrii was sent back to pre-trial detention after the consideration of an appeal by the prosecution, which opposed the court«s decision. Family relatives told the editorial office about this. A 59.RU source in law enforcement agencies confirmed this information.
At the Perm Regional Court, 59.RU clarified that on January 20, a jury will be formed, after which a hearing date will be set.
Relatives of Artem Bedrii«s family told 59.RU that he has influential relatives, hence good defense: his uncle Igor Bedrii was the head of the Perm District administration from 2009 to 2014. A 59.RU correspondent called Igor Bedrii, but he refused to comment, saying he is not interested in this.
Earlier we wrote that Natalia left behind a teenage son. Family relatives said that the boy is being raised by a guardian, and they now live in another city.
