A small winter corner in the center of Nizhny Novgorod came alive with cheerful chirping. Bright plumaged waxwings flocked to the juicy clusters of rowan berries, hosting a true feast on the branches. NN.RU photographer Natalia Burukhina captured how the birds, despite the frost, deftly peck at the berries, chat with each other, and turn the modest rowan trees into living pictures of winter nature.

In our region, kingfishers are rarely observed: they are included in the Red Book of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.
