Near Tyumen, in the village of Gorkovka, the animal rescue center «Red Horse» operates. Here live about 80 horses—from former sports and circus performers to true retirees—as well as cats and dogs rescued from the streets or euthanasia. Each animal has its own story: some were bought from slaughterhouses, some lost their health due to improper workloads, and some were born with disabilities but still live full lives.

The center was founded by veterinarian Svetlana Kolmogorova—a person for whom helping animals has long been a life«s work.

How the shelter is organized, how much it costs to care for the horses, and why «Red Horse» couldn«t exist without volunteers and donors—watch in the video story above.

We covered the center in more detail in a separate article. Previously, we wrote about a private cat shelter. Here, in the space of a standard two-room apartment, about 60 cats live. Several dozen more are in foster care with volunteers. Nadezhda Rybalova, the shelter«s founder, recalls that it all started with one kitten found in a stairwell five years ago. And what happened next—read in our previous material.
