Tomsk Horse Riding Organizer Ordered to Pay 800k Over Girl's Fall

The horse riding organizer allowed the 16-year-old to ride without protective equipment.
A resident of the Tomsk region has been sentenced to a conditional term and a large fine after a teenage girl fell during a horse ride. This was reported by the press service of the regional prosecutor«s office.
The court found that the 37-year-old woman bought horses and began organizing paid horse rides. In May 2024, she allowed a 16-year-old girl to ride without equipment. The inexperienced rider could not stay in the saddle, fell, and was injured.
The woman admitted guilt and paid the victim 400,000 rubles (approximately $4,400 at current rates).
The Kolpashevsky City Court found the woman guilty of providing services that threatened the life and health of clients and, through negligence, caused serious harm to health (under point «v» of part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The guilty party was sentenced to two years of imprisonment conditionally. In addition, she was ordered to pay the teenager another 800,000 rubles (approximately $8,900 at current rates) as compensation.
