In Surgut (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Russia), a groomer cut off the tip of a toy poodle puppy’s tail during a trim. The dog’s owner reported the incident on social media.

Anna brought her seven-month-old pet named Kylie for a haircut at the «Teddyboo» grooming salon, having read positive reviews about it beforehand.

During the trim, the groomer accidentally cut off the puppy’s tail tip. The groomer did not inform the owner about what had happened, and the injury was not visible because of the dense coat. At home, Anna noticed the pet behaving strangely.

«She wasn’t eating, didn’t play, and was afraid of people; she began to tremble when touched, didn’t want to be picked up, couldn’t settle down, although she had always been very friendly, affectionate, and sociable. The next day we saw what had been done to the dog and immediately went to a veterinary clinic, where the cut tail was documented,» — wrote the Surgut resident.

According to the woman, the salon owner refunded the grooming, went to the clinic where the injured puppy was being treated, and paid for pain medication.

As Anna clarified, when asked how it happened and why the owner had not been informed, the groomer replied: «I cut off just a tiny bit, nothing terrible happened, I treated it right away, so I decided not to report it.»

At the «Teddyboo» salon, a reporter from 86.RU was told the incident was confirmed and that the groomer who trimmed the puppy had already been dismissed. Prior to this case, no complaints had been received about her work. The salon refunded the client for the haircut and covered all expenses at the veterinary clinic.

«We apologized to the woman and offered to provide free services for the pet at our salon. We are also ready to pay for a dog trainer if the dog needs psychological help after what happened. On our part, everything was done to settle the conflict,» — «Teddyboo» said.

The salon also said the client still intends to go to court and is threatening to have the establishment closed.
