Residents terrified by stray dog packs in KhMAO settlement

The problem of stray dogs remains acute for residents of Sovetsky District
Residents of the Pionersky settlement in Sovetsky District have once again complained about a pack of stray dogs freely roaming the streets. According to them, the animals show aggression and attack domestic pets and children, and also scatter waste from garbage containers and pollute the settlement.
A pack of dogs terrorizes residents of a settlement in Sovetsky District
«While walking my dog, strays have repeatedly attacked and shown aggression. Walking the streets is terrifying. Authorities send formal replies and refer to the fact that a tender for catching them has not yet been conducted in response to complaints about dogs that roam the settlement in packs and terrorize the population. The police are powerless — a bite incident is needed. The administration is inactive,» wrote Galochka in a comment on the publication in the Telegram channel of the KhMAO governor.
Residents also dislike that the dogs often scatter trash around the settlement, which ends up on apartment balconies when the wind picks up.
«Dozens of unsupervised, often aggressive dogs, including those on free-roaming, are running everywhere on the streets. They prefer to gather in packs near grocery stores, container sites, or near kindergartens and the school, with many aggressive dogs especially noted in the area of Sosinovy Lane, 1. The administration, to my knowledge, does not conduct any explanatory work with dog owners whose pets live and feed on free-roaming, despite my repeated appeals to the EDDS (Unified Duty Dispatch Service) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MVD),» said Denis Takuntsev, an expert from the All-Russian People«s Front (ONF) in KhMAO.
He also added that some dogs sneak up from behind on passersby and either bite or bark at them. In the settlement«s social media group, it was written that on January 20 they attacked a girl. Fortunately, she was able to fight them off and got away with a scare. Previously, there were other cases of stray animal attacks.
The administration of Sovetsky District explained that the veterinary service visited Pionersky to account for the number of unsupervised animals.
«A total of 6 applications for 24 individuals have been registered. A visit by the capture service is planned in the near future,» noted the mayor«s office.
There, they added that some dogs were on free-roaming. The information was transferred to the OVD (Department of Internal Affairs) for Sovetsky District to hold the owners administratively liable.
Earlier, we wrote that in the Pionersky settlement, a stray dog bit a seven-year-old child. This was reported to 86.RU by the mother of the affected boy. According to the woman, despite appeals to the administration, police, and prosecutor«s office, the dog continued to walk the street.
