Rescuers Catch 'Banana' Python in High-Rise Kitchen in Iskitim

Rescuers in Iskitim, Novosibirsk Oblast, received an unusual call: residents of a high-rise building found an exotic white-and-pink snake in their apartment«s kitchen. The information appeared in the group »Center for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Fire Safety of Novosibirsk Oblast« on VKontakte.
Specialists carefully captured the animal and temporarily placed it in a safe container. Information about the find was posted in the building residents« chat to find possible owners.
According to rescuers, the snake turned out to be a royal python with a rare decorative coloration called «banana». This species is non-venomous and has a calm temperament — in case of danger, pythons do not attack but curl up into a ball.
Most likely, it is a pet that escaped or was lost. In the natural environment of Siberia, such reptiles cannot survive: they require warmth and high humidity.
Rescuers remind: when discovering animals unusual for the region, one should not attempt to catch them independently. It is necessary to move to a safe distance and call emergency services at 112.
In the Urals, residents of a high-rise building spent a week trying to catch a snake that appeared in the entrance. The unusual story began when one of the residents entered the toilet and noticed a small exotic animal crawling out from behind the toilet.
