Authorities in Bashkortostan have announced the introduction of a rabies quarantine in the village of Yangazino in Baymak District. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of the republic, Radii Khabirov, the day before and published on the republic«s legal information portal.

According to the document, the quarantine is being introduced in the village of Yangazino, which is located 35 kilometers from Baymak and is part of the Ishmukhametovsky Village Council. About 150 people live in the village.

The decree identifies the home of a local resident, Firdus Magadeev, as the source of the infection. His son previously managed his own farm in Yangazino, but closed it in 2012, according to data from Kontur.Fokus. UFA1.RU could not find contact information for the Magadeev family themselves, so to find out how serious the threat of an epidemic is, the outlet turned to the administration of the village council.

However, its head, Ilnur Ishmukhametov, was not available. As explained in the reception office, the official has gone on sick leave. However, judging by the reaction of his assistant, there is no fear of rabies there.

«We don»t have such a thing in Yangazino, I«m hearing about this decree for the first time, maybe they posted it by mistake,» said an employee of the Ishmukhametovsky Village Council.

Nevertheless, the decree is valid. According to it, the import and export of animals is prohibited in the territory of the source of infection.
