A rabies outbreak was identified in the Mekhzavod settlement, 11th quarter, building No. 21. It turned out that a fox had appeared nearby.

«The red fox was near school 156 today. Someone kind dragged her into the entrance of building 21; after warming up, she started attacking people and tore the door. Emergency services arrived and took the fox for rabies testing,» says blogger Ksenia Stefan.

Local residents also expressed concerns because packs of dogs are running around the settlement. People fear that the fox could easily transmit rabies to the dogs.

Now, the area within a one-kilometer radius adjacent to the epizootic outbreak has been declared an unfavorable point. The quarantine can be lifted 60 days after the destruction of the last corpse of an animal sick or suspected of having rabies.

In addition, a rabies quarantine is also in effect in the center of Samara — in the Oktyabrsky district. The disease outbreak was identified in a building on Maslennikov Avenue.
