The owner of the «Happy Tail» cat shelter contacted the 59.RU editorial office with a plea for help for a cat with a difficult fate. Irbis has lived in a separate enclosure for over a year because he has illnesses that are dangerous to other cats. For the same reason, they cannot find him a permanent home. The shelter administration has taken an extreme step — volunteers are offering money to anyone who will foster the snow-white cat.

The eight-year-old Irbis has feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) — akin to HIV, but in animals. The virus attacks the immune system, making the animal more susceptible to other illnesses. Only other cats can be infected by it. Irbis also has feline leukemia virus (FeLV) — this virus also attacks the immune system and can provoke tumors.

The cat was brought to the shelter from a garden plot, but no one knows where he came from. At first, Irbis did not trust people and would lunge at volunteers. Now the cat is calm — he has been at the shelter for over a year. However, unlike other residents of «Happy Tail,» he is doomed to live in a cage — because his diseases are dangerous to others.

«Due to illness, he lost an eye and had all his teeth removed — no one takes him. The cat feels well but may not live long,» shelter owner Iya Esaulova told 59.RU. «Since we cannot place him, we are ready to pay for home fostering. We will provide everything for the cat; if veterinary care is needed — that is also on us. It»s important that the home is in Perm, has no other cats, and that they will definitely love him. We«ve already filmed him, written various posts — and nothing! I feel very sorry for him.»

Irbis is neutered, treated for parasites, and fully vaccinated. The cat uses a litter box and eats wet food, as he has no teeth.

If you are ready to foster the cat, call Iya at 8-909-101-29-70.

Also, a timid kitten walled up in the entrance of a Perm apartment building is in need of a human. However, it managed to escape and survive.
