A mother cat in Perm is looking for a home after she approached the Happy Tail shelter for assistance. She had been living in a trailer with security personnel.

On October 19, Iya Esaulova, the founder of Happy Tail shelter, spotted a stray cat circling the building from her window. She went outside, brought the cat in, and noted she was thin and dirty but wearing a flea collar. The next morning, when the cat«s mammary glands were swollen, volunteers deduced she had kittens elsewhere. Shelter workers then phoned nearby business premises and inquired if anyone had seen newborn kittens.

Security guards at the shelter reported that the cat had been staying in their trailer. «She might have been abandoned or simply sought out human company,» Iya Esaulova suggested. «The trailer was uninhabitable—poorly heated and filled with thick smoke from constant smoking. Yet, that»s where she delivered her kittens.«

They named the cat Panacota. «She»s just as sweet and gentle as the dessert,« shelter staff said of the name choice.

Panacota«s kittens have all found homes. One of them, Tolik, stayed with his mother Panacota at Iya»s for a while, but he too has since been adopted.

Shelter volunteers say Panacota was initially exhausted, doing little but eating and sleeping. Now in foster care, she has been dewormed and vaccinated. Her appearance has improved—she«s gained weight and her coat is fuller. These days, she scurries around the apartment, shadows people closely, and silently parts her lips as if attempting to speak.

Panacota is scheduled for spaying soon, after which she«ll be available for adoption. Those interested in giving her a home can contact Iya at 8 909 101-29-70.

Meanwhile, another cat in Perm that resembles Charlie Chaplin is also seeking a home. She has been returned to the shelter three times.
