“The moose fell into a pond while crossing it. Residents pulled it out of the water. For three days, it has been lying on the snow. People wrapped it up as best they could. They called everywhere. No one is solving this problem. The moose cannot get up,” described the situation on social media by Yaroslavl volunteer Alla Volkova.
People appealed to various authorities. As a result, hunting inspectors and veterinary service specialists have joined in to solve the problem.
“At the moment, veterinary service specialists and a state hunting inspector are working in the village of Oktyabr. The animal«s condition is stable, but it cannot be left in the village, as the unfamiliar environment leads to excessive stress on its nervous system, and constant contact with people can cause chronic stress in the animal, which, among other things, weakens the immune system and prevents self-recovery,” commented the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Yaroslavl Region.
Specialists noted that there are no rehabilitation centers for moose in the region. And transporting the moose by car over a significant distance is highly likely to lead to its death, caused by the consequences of psychophysiological shock.
“After examination by a specialist, it is planned to move the moose to its natural habitat, where a special platform will be made for it, and it will be monitored, provided with veterinary care for recovery, and supplied with food until it recovers strength,” reported the ministry.
Information about the animal«s condition will be published on the ministry»s official page on VKontakte.
Specialists added that if a wild animal in need of help is found, one should call the unified emergency response number 112.
