Ladder, axe, EMERCOM rescuers save Minusinsk cat

An unusual call came to the Minusinsk fire station today — residents of a building in the city center heard desperate meowing from a second-floor balcony and asked for help saving a cat. The animal was hanging in the balcony opening while its owners were away. It could not free itself. Rescuers from the Ministerstvo po chrezvychaynym situatsiyam — the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters (EMERCOM of Russia) — climbed a ladder to the second floor and helped the cat back into the apartment.
We have shared remarkable stories of four-legged rescues in this piece. People spared neither effort, nor time, nor money to get their pets back on their feet.
Here are funny and not-so-funny (for the owners) cases from veterinary practice: what doctors found in the stomachs of four-legged pets. For example, a cat swallowed his owner’s wedding ring, which the man had saved up for a long time while preparing to propose to his girlfriend. And a Spitz had a condom in its stomach; it turned out he ate it while the owner was home alone — his wife was on a business trip. How the family showdown ended — the story does not say.
