Friends through thick and thin: Circus performers live with rare pets
Animal trainers Evgeny and Natalia Kagarmanov have shared their Novosibirsk home with their performing animals for 30 years, including a macaque, meerkats, and retired circus rats.

The family of Evgeny and Natalia Kagarmanov is a circus family. They are animal trainers and have worked at the Novosibirsk Circus for three decades. The pets they perform with in the ring live with them. Ten-year-old macaque Yasha, meerkats Lelik and Zhulik, and circus poodles Richard, Maxi, and Chizhik are full-fledged family members. Also in their company are a long-eared hedgehog named Tikhon and three rats—retired circus performers. Learn how life is with these exotic animals in the short video above.
