Found Behind the Sofa: Kurgan Firefighters Save Dog from Burning House

In Kurgan, on the night of January 26, personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) extinguished a fire in a private home on Tsiolkovsky Street, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of EMERCOM for the Kurgan Region.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the blaze had already engulfed 120 square meters of the house. After assessing the situation, the rescuers began searching the rooms. There were no people inside, but in one of the rooms they made an unexpected discovery.
«In the farthest room, we felt behind the sofa in the corner and found a little dog. It was scared, trembling, had inhaled smoke and was no longer even barking. We carried the pet out into the fresh air,» said Nikita Zavorin, the chief of the guard of the 12th Fire and Rescue Unit.
The pet was handed over to its owner, who arrived at the scene.
A total of 24 specialists and 6 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. According to a preliminary report, the cause of the fire was an electrical fault or malfunctioning equipment.
