Cat Volya finds home after year in cage

A home has been found in Novosibirsk for a strict cat from a shelter named Volya. She was taken by a Siberian man after the death of his beloved pet with a similar character.

NGS reported on the cat named Volya in November 2025. After the death of her owner, she was brought to the shelter. She demonstrated a tough disposition, so volunteers had to keep her in a cage to prevent fights with other cats.

On January 6, a post appeared in the «Heritage of Bastet» group on the social network VKontakte: «Guess whose cage is empty. And why?» In the comments, shelter representatives explained that Volya had found a home.

As the new owner of Volya told NGS, the day before, his beloved pet with a similar character had died at the clinic. And when he brought Volya home, she turned out to be an exact copy of the previous cat in some ways, and completely different in others.

«The cat is rather timid. At first, she kept her distance, but when you leave the bed, she often climbs onto it—under the blanket—and stays there for a long time. She chases after a bow, doesn»t climb high on the scratching post yet, but sharpens her claws. She mostly sits with me in the room, occasionally goes out to the kitchen to yell and to the bathroom for a short while, but almost immediately returns,« described the cat»s behavior by the new owner.

The cat shows no aggression, only sometimes grumbles discontentedly if you watch her too closely or shoo her off the table.

«The shelter did all the work, I got a quite normal cat, you just have to respect her boundaries,» noted Volya«s owner.
