Yaroslavl residents warned of -25°C cold snap

A warming station is prepared on the M-8 highway as the Yaroslavl region braces for severe cold.
Residents of the Yaroslavl region have been warned of frosts down to -25 degrees Celsius (-13°F). The air temperature drop is expected during nighttime hours from 18:00 on January 23 to January 26.
«Drivers! When planning intercity trips in low temperatures, have a supply of fuel, drinking water, and warm clothing with you,» the regional government appealed to motorists.
Authorities also reported that from 14:00 on January 23 to 14:00 on January 27, a warming station will be set up at the 134 km mark of the M-8 Moscow-Kholmogory highway in Pereslavl-Zalessky, near the traffic police post. In case of an emergency, help can be sought by calling 112.
Recall that forecasters predicted a cold snap, with its peak expected over the upcoming weekend, January 24–25.
At the same time, warming is expected to begin at the start of the new week. So, on Monday, January 26, the air temperature during the day is expected to be around -13 degrees Celsius (9°F), and on Tuesday, January 27, -6 degrees Celsius (21°F). However, the sky will be overcast again and snow will fall.
