Will it get colder or will the frost retreat? Weekend weather for Arkhangelsk Oblast

Warmer temperatures are expected this weekend in the Arkhangelsk region, but forecasters are also warning of snowstorms and black ice.

On the weekend of 24–25 January, it will get warmer in Arkhangelsk Oblast. Forecasters predict snowstorms and black ice.

«Due to the North Atlantic cyclone moving into the White Sea in the Pomorye region, a significant warming is expected. Light snow will occur everywhere, and on Sunday, some areas may experience light snowstorms and black ice,» reports the Northern Hydrometeorological Service (UGMS).

The air temperature will be -5…-10 °C (23…14 °F), and -15…-20 °C (5…-4 °F) in the southern half of the region. The wind will be moderate from western directions.

Recall that this week has been frosty. On the night of 23 January, the temperature dropped to -33 °C (-27 °F).

Recall that in early January, residents of one apartment building in Arkhangelsk were left without hot water and heating during the frost. Radiators in their entrance burst, and the temperature in the apartments does not rise above 12 °C (54 °F). Reports of cold in apartments came from different parts of the city.
