Volgograd Forecast: Fog and Frost Down to -30°C

Meteorologists warn that strong winds will exacerbate the effects of low temperatures in Volgograd, with fog and frosts as low as -30°C.

The Volgograd Hydrometeorological Center has issued a weather forecast for the final days of the week. Meteorologists warn of the return of severe frosts, accompanied by increased wind and precipitation.

On the night to Friday, 23 January, light snow is expected in some areas of the region. At night and in the morning, fog, black ice, and icy conditions are possible in places. The wind from the east and northeast will blow at speeds of 7-12 meters per second. Air temperatures at night will range from -9 to -14 degrees Celsius (16 to 7 degrees Fahrenheit), and in the north of the region — from -18 to -23 degrees Celsius (0 to -9 degrees Fahrenheit). During the day, forecasts predict from -6 to -11 degrees Celsius (21 to 12 degrees Fahrenheit), and in the north — down to -16 degrees Celsius (3 degrees Fahrenheit).

On the night to Saturday, another Arctic invasion will reach the region. In places, light snow is possible, and in some areas — fog, black ice, and icy conditions. Wind speed will increase to 12-14 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures are expected within -18 to -23 degrees Celsius (0 to -9 degrees Fahrenheit), and with clearing — down to -25 degrees Celsius (-13 degrees Fahrenheit). In the south of the region, it will be warmer: from -10 to -15 degrees Celsius (14 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit). During the day across the region, thermometer readings will drop to -20 degrees Celsius (-4 degrees Fahrenheit), and only in the south in places will it be down to -15 degrees Celsius (5 degrees Fahrenheit).

On Sunday night, light snow will pass through some areas, and in the morning and during the day, moderate snowfall is expected in places. Fog, black ice, and icy conditions are also likely. The wind will remain strong — up to 14 meters per second. At night, air temperatures will fluctuate from -15 to -20 degrees Celsius (5 to -4 degrees Fahrenheit), and with clearing may drop to -28 degrees Celsius (-18 degrees Fahrenheit). During the day, forecasters promise from -14 to -19 degrees Celsius (7 to -2 degrees Fahrenheit), but in some areas only down to -10 degrees Celsius (14 degrees Fahrenheit).
