The school in the Lesnoy Gorodok settlement of Chita District switched to remote learning for two weeks due to freezing weather and cold inside the building. Parents themselves requested the move from the administration, the school told a Chita.Ru correspondent on January 30.
The building is old, built around 1939. It seems it used to be a barracks, then was adapted into a school. It«s also cold outside, and the children cannot warm up in school. At one point they were sitting in lessons in their outdoor clothes, but then parents started to appeal and the principal decided to switch the students to remote learning, said the deputy principal.
According to her, the temperature in the school is 12–13 degrees Celsius (54–55°F), on warmer days it rises to 14–15 degrees Celsius (57–59°F), but that is not enough.
It is planned that in-school lessons will resume on February 2.
