Temperatures to Drop to -30°C in Parts of Kuzbass on Student Day

Sunday in the region promises to be cold. According to the Kemerovo Hydrometeorological Center website, air temperatures on January 25 will drop to -21…-26°C (-6…-15°F), and in some areas thermometers may read as low as -32°C (-26°F).
On the night of January 25, frosts of -20°C (-4°F) will persist across the region, and in some places, down to -30°C (-22°F). Meanwhile, in the south of the region, it will be slightly warmer — up to -15°C (5°F). The wind will be south-westerly, with speeds of 3–8 m/s, and gusts may reach 13 m/s in some areas. The weather will be cloudy with clear spells, and light snow is possible. In some places, haze is expected, and drivers should be cautious of icy roads.
During the day, temperatures will remain quite low. In some areas, they will stay around -25°C (-13°F), but overall temperatures will rise to -15…-17°C (5…1°F). Wind gusts will persist from the night, along with other weather conditions.
In Kemerovo, the regional capital, overnight temperatures will be -24…-26°C (-11…-15°F), warming to -18…-20°C (0…-4°F) during the day. Cloudy weather with clear spells and light snow is expected; precipitation will cease in the daytime, but skies will remain overcast. Winds will be at 3–8 m/s.
In Novokuznetsk, overnight temperatures are forecast at -20…-16°C (-4…3°F), rising slightly to around -15°C (5°F) during the day. Winds will be light at 1–3 m/s. Snowfall and overcast conditions are possible throughout the day.
