Sverdlovsk Oblast cold snap brings -48°C temperatures

In Ivdel, the thermometer shows -48°C (-54°F). This is perhaps one of the coldest spots in the oblast.
Abnormal cold is raging in Sverdlovsk Oblast. Air temperatures have been below -30 degrees Celsius (-22°F) for the second day in a row. The Ural Hydrometeorological Center notes that in some places, on the night of January 23, it cooled down to as low as -42°C (-44°F). We asked E1.RU readers to show their thermometers. It turned out that in some cities, the weather was even harsher.

For example, in Bobrovsky, it was -46°C (-51°F) at 6 a.m.

Another cold spot in the region is the Irbitsky District. It is currently -45°C (-49°F) there.

In Neviansk, it is -44°C (-47°F) today.

In Beloyarsky, it was -42°C (-44°F) at 7 a.m.

Such a temperature is now in the Alapayevsky District — -41.9°C (-43°F).

In Yekaterinburg, in the UNC microdistrict, the thermometer recorded -37.5°C (-36°F).
