Snowy Weekend in Rostov Oblast

According to the regional hydrometeorological center, snowfalls and a drop in temperature are expected in Rostov Oblast on 24 and 25 January.

In Rostov, it will be cloudy with clear spells. On Saturday night, heavy snow will begin, at times turning into a blizzard. Precipitation will cease by Sunday morning. On the roads, ice and snowdrifts are likely. The wind will be north-eastern and eastern with a speed of 8-13 m/s.

Temperature in the city:

• Saturday: daytime -5...-7°C (23...19°F), nighttime -11...-13°C (12...9°F).
• Sunday: daytime -8...-10°C (18...14°F).

Across the oblast, variable cloudiness is also forecast. On Saturday, light and moderate snow will fall in many areas, with heavy snow in places. Blizzards are possible, and in the north, frost at night and in the morning. On Sunday, snow is expected mainly in the morning, with intense snow in some locations.

The wind in the region will maintain a north-eastern and eastern direction with a speed of 8-13 meters per second.

• Saturday: daytime in the north -10...-15°C (14...5°F), in the south -4...-9°C (25...16°F); nighttime -8...-13°C (18...9°F), with clear spells down to -18°C (0°F), in the extreme northern areas down to -24°C (-11°F).
• Sunday: daytime in the north -11...-16°C (12...3°F), in the south -5...-10°C (23...14°F).

On 24 and 25 January, snowdrifts and ice are likely on the roads in the region.
