In Yaroslavl Oblast, a sharp temperature drop is expected this week. According to the Fobos meteorological center, abnormally cold weather will set in across Central Russia by the end of the week.

Forecasters report:

«The strongest frosts of this winter are heading to Central Russia. In Moscow today, light snow and around −4 °C (25°F) are possible, but starting tomorrow, snow clouds will dissipate and cooling will begin. By the end of the week, daytime temperatures will be −12 to −15 °C (10 to 5°F). Such temperatures are 8–11 °C below normal.»

A detailed day-by-day forecast for the region, compiled based on information from the Pogoda 76.RU service and the Hydrometcenter of Russia, shows the following dynamics.

  • January 22: At night, the thermometer will drop to −12 °C (10°F), with light snow expected. During the day, the temperature will be −14 °C (7°F), cloudy but without precipitation.
  • January 23: At night, the frost will intensify to −19 °C (-2°F), with no snowfall expected. During the day, around −20 °C (-4°F) is expected with variable cloudiness.
  • January 24: At night, it will cool to −24 °C (-11°F), with no precipitation. The daytime temperature will reach −21 °C (-6°F), and snow is also not forecast.
  • January 25: At night, the frost will persist at −25 °C (-13°F). During the day, it will be −22 °C (-8°F), with possible light snowfall that will last until evening.
  • January 26: According to the Hydrometcenter of Russia, at night the temperature will rise to −19 °C (-2°F), with no precipitation expected. During the day, it will warm to −11 °C (12°F), and snow is not anticipated.
  • January 27: At night, −13 °C (9°F) is forecast, cloudy with snow. During the day, the temperature will be −7 °C (19°F), and the snowfall will continue.
