Severe Frost Cancels School for Tyumen's Younger Students Only

Tyumen authorities have canceled lessons for elementary school students due to severe weather. This applies to students who attend school in the second shift.

«Today, due to low outdoor air temperature, classes for the second shift in Tyumen city schools for students in grades 1–4 in person are canceled,» the administration reports.

But in the morning it was even colder, so lessons were canceled for children up to grade 9.

Recall that the cancellation of in-person classes depends on air temperature and wind speed. In elementary school, such conditions occur at temperatures from -25 degrees Celsius (-13°F) and wind speeds over two meters per second.

Middle school does not attend classes with strong wind and -30 degrees Celsius (-22°F). Complete cancellation of classes for schoolchildren — at -35 degrees Celsius (-31°F) and strong wind.

Note that classes for some schoolchildren were canceled in Tyumen Municipal District and Tobolsk.

Lately, some schoolchildren have been staying home quite often due to severe frost. But not always by the decision of authorities. While the virtual assistant measures parameters, parents listen to their own feelings and keep their children at home.
