Large chunks of frozen water were floating downstream. In places where the ice was transparent enough, these «travelers» could be seen.
«Under-ice ice is a unique natural phenomenon. We saw it near the Nekrasovsky descent, next to the hovercraft route,» the video author told 63.RU.
He suggested that the ice floes form in a polynya. It is located slightly upstream. The Samara resident explained that water freezes there and then flows under the ice.
It seems this phenomenon cannot cause serious problems. And a few years ago, Samara residents learned a new word — slush ice. As representatives of RKS (a Russian utility company) explained then, the water both froze and remained liquid. As a result, crystals clogged the water intake of NFS in Studeny Ovrag, and some citizens were left without cold water.
