It Gets Worse! Sverdlovsk Region Braces for -40°C Frosts

Meteorologists have issued a warning about abnormal frosts. On January 21–25, temperatures in Sverdlovsk Region will drop to -42°C (-43.6°F).
«In Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, and Kurgan regions, as well as Perm Krai, abnormally cold weather is expected. On the coldest days, January 22–23, nighttime temperatures will be -30 to -37°C (-22 to -34.6°F), and in low-lying areas, -40 to -42°C (-40 to -43.6°F),» the Ural Hydrometeorological Center reported.
In Yekaterinburg on January 22, it will be cloudy with clearings, mostly without precipitation. At night down to -34°C (-29.2°F), during the day -27 to -29°C (-16.6 to -20.2°F).
On January 23, variable cloudiness, at night down to -36°C (-32.8°F), during the day down to -27°C (-16.6°F).
Residents of Sverdlovsk Region can hope for warming only after January 25: temperatures will begin to rise, but will still be below normal.
Due to the cold, in Yekaterinburg, a giant slide and the ice rink in the city center have already been closed. Urals residents barely had time to catch their breath after the severe frosts last week, when temperatures in Yekaterinburg dropped to nearly -30°C (-22°F).
