After a brief warming, severe frosts will return to Nizhny Novgorod, and snowfalls are expected again on the weekend.
On the night of Saturday, January 31, the temperature will drop to -20°C (-4°F). During the day, the air will warm up only to -18°C (0°F), there will be no precipitation, but snow will resume at night.
On Sunday, February 1, the frosts will weaken slightly: the thermometer will read from -19°C (-2°F) to -12°C (10°F). The snowfall will continue throughout the day.
According to forecasts, up to 30 centimeters (about 1 foot) of snow could fall over the weekend. Municipal services are operating around the clock, but the city has already faced serious snow drifts, hindering movement.
