Frost intensifies: Tyumen Oblast temperature to drop to -40 degrees

Tyumen Oblast is expected to have very cold nights. Weather forecast for the next three days was shared by specialists from the Ob-Irtysh Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (UGMS).

On the night of Friday, January 23, forecasters predict up to -40 degrees Celsius (-40°F). Significant precipitation is not expected, with winds up to seven meters per second. During the day, it will warm slightly to -26 degrees Celsius (-15°F). Snow is not expected.

On the night of Saturday, January 24, the situation will repeat, again with temperatures up to -40 degrees Celsius (-40°F). Precipitation is not expected during the dark hours, with winds from the south up to seven meters per second. During the day, the wind direction will not change, and snow is also not expected. It will become slightly warmer — thermometers will show up to -25 degrees Celsius (-13°F).

On the next night, Sunday, January 25, air temperature will reach up to -37 degrees Celsius (-35°F). The wind will become stronger — gusts up to nine meters per second are expected. During the day, light snow and -23 degrees Celsius (-9°F) are forecast.

«Abnormally cold weather is expected until January 25,» write specialists from the Ob-Irtysh Department of Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (UGMS).

And what about Tyumen? According to the service «Yandex Weather,» in the next two days, nighttime temperatures will drop to -30 degrees Celsius (-22°F), with slightly warmer days. The Siberian frost will leave the city only in the middle of next week, when thermometers will register above minus ten degrees Celsius (14°F).
